Sojourner Celebrates 25 Successful Years Hamilton, Ohio - April 24, 2010 - Local non-profit; Sojourner Recovery Services, celebrated its 25th Anniversary and received several resolutions honoring them for their services. Sojourner, a non-profit based in Hamilton, Ohio has been providing services for clients suffering from substance abuse and/or related mental health issues. The House of Representatives, along with the Butler County Commissioners sent resolutions to Sojourner and the City of Hamilton named April 24th as "Sojourner Recovery Services Day" in the City of Hamilton.
Named after Sojourner Truth - a former slave in the 1800's who emulated courage, strength and an unswerving faith that women of all races could turn their lives around - the agency was started in 1985. Today, Sojourner Recovery Services helps women, men, adolescents and children realize their dreams for a better life.
"Our services are based on a belief that persons addicted to alcohol and/or drugs face unique challenges - physically, emotionally and socially." commented Amy J. Erhardt, President/CEO. "We focus treatment on meeting the needs of the whole person. We individualize programs in a supportive, caring environment that are designed to help people regain their sense of self-worth as they learn how to become and stay clean and sober." she continued. Ms. Erhardt has been with Sojourner Recovery Services for 23 years.
"I can't say enough about how Sojourner helped me." stated former client Jason Suttles. "Because of them I've earned my associates and now working on getting a degree in Chemical Dependency Counseling. They've given me my life back." Jason continued. Jason completed the program in 2003 and has recently come back to serve as a volunteer.
Sojourner celebrated its 25th Anniversary on April 24th at the Fairfield Community Arts Center with a concert by Covington, KY native Adrian Belew. Adrian was discovered by Frank Zappa and has toured with Frank and David Bowie. Butler County Board of Commissioners Proclamation
